Donna Jean (Veliky) Macik, 74, of Carroll Township - cherished mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend - passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, following a courageous journey with cancer.
Born in North Charleroi on May 11, 1951, she was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Wruszak) Veliky. She was Catholic by faith and a longtime member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. She retired from Thermo Fisher Scientific (formerly Fisher Scientific) after 55 years of dedicated service. Donna was a humble, compassionate and sweet-natured woman who had an infectious laugh and a knack for making up her own words and phrases, lovingly called "Donna-isms." She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling with her daughter and visiting her sister and extended family on the Maryland shore.
She was a huge dog lover, especially when it came to her faithful beagle companion, Maggie. She also enjoyed watching sports (particularly the Pens), The Golden Girls and Hallmark movies, as well as playing games and doing crossword puzzles. Donna was talented with numbers and crafts, two gifts her daughter jokingly says she did not inherit. In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Patrick Curran and Carl Totedo.
Surviving to celebrate her memory are her husband of 53 years, George Macik; two children, Darren Macik and Ashley Macik; sister, Jane Curran; sister-in-law, Beverly Totedo; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, especially the amazing nurses, at both Magee-Women's Hospital and Family Hospice in Lawrenceville.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donating to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition in Donna's memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L.
