Faye C. Hefner, age 88, of Donora, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.

She was born in Monongahela on December 29, 1937, a daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Alice (Fulton) Jericho and was wife of the late Lawrence "Bud" Hefner who passed away on April 25, 1988.

She was protestant by faith and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Belle Vernon. Faye loved her family and was always protective of her children. She was a kind soul who was tough when needed to be but always gentle and loving. Faye loved playing bingo and was an avid baker and cook who always looked forward to her brothers stopping by saying, "what did you make today, Faye?"

Faye was a Pink Lady for several years and did the finger printing for schools in the Mon Valley area through Monongahela Valley Hospital.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Szakal; a son in-law, David Ludwick; sisters, Dorothy Gaydos, Jean Bitsko, and Ruth Koget; and her brothers, Charles Jericho Jr., Harry Jericho, and Clyde Jericho.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her six children, Gilbert (Chris) Szakal of Florida, Susan (Fr. Bob) Hanna of Carroll Township, Charles (Dolores) Szakal of Donora, Donna Ludwick of Donora, Barbara Jo Szakal of Donora, and John (Cheryl) Szakal of Belle Vernon; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that she loved dearly; her sister, Barbara Ferguson of Donora; two sisters-in-law, Gail Jericho and Edith Jericho; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Arrangement have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, (724) 379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. A service will take place in the funeral home on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with her son in-law, the Rev. Fr. Robert Hanna officiating. Interment will follow at Monongahela Cemetery.
