John ("Bud") Martinet McGinley, age 97, of Clearwater Beach, FL., formerly of Charleroi and Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL.
He was born in Charleroi on November 9, 1925, the son of the late C. Howard ("Muggsy") McGinley and the late Mathilda Martinet McGinley.
Bud graduated from Charleroi High School in 1943. Always a fervent believer in hard work, Bud had many jobs during his school years, including working in the post office, coal mines, and Corning Glass factory, and work as a milk truck driver, paper boy, and pin-boy at the Charleroi Elks Club (where he was working when he learned of the attack on Pearl Harbor). He was also the last surviving person who worked at the family business, The Martinet Bakery, which was founded by his grandparents, John C. and Virginia Martinet in Charleroi in the early 1900's.

Bud attended Kent State University, where he played varsity football and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
After college, Bud began his professional career as a salesman with ABCO Chemical Inc., eventually becoming their top salesman. He left ABCO in 1960 to start his own company, McGinley Maintenance Inc., which continues today, operating in 5 states.
Bud was also very active in the community. He served on the Board of Directors of the Charleroi Quarterback Club, the Charleroi Booster Club, Building Service Contractors Association International, and First Federal Bank of Monessen (now Community Bank) where he served for 30 years, including six years as Chairman. In the 1960's he also worked as a radio broadcast spotter for certain Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers football games. Bud was also a proud and long-standing member of the Charleroi Italian Club, Charleroi Elks Club, Mon Valley Country Club (where he was still playing golf at age 95), the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Mon Valley Serra Club.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Bud was preceded in death by two sons, Jack and Michael McGinley, an infant daughter, and his sister, Marcia (McGinley) Glenn.
Surviving to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his daughter, Marcia McGinley of FL; four sons, Neil McGinley of GA, Patrick (Gail) McGinley of MD, Mark (Patty) McGinley of Monongahela and James McGinley of White Oak; a daughter-in-law, Joan McGinley of Greensburg; 10 Grandchildren, Tim (Ammie) McGinley, Megan (Darrell) Morgan, Molly McGinley, Beth McGinley, Brian McGinley, Katie (Mike) Cerra, Laura (Roy) Bailey, Kevin McGinley, Chris (Jessica) McGinley and Greg McGinley; and 7 great grandchildren, Patrick and Libby McGinley, Max and Samantha Morgan, Jack and June Bailey and Cole Cerra.
