Margaret (Opett) Balas, 95 of Donora, PA passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014, at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Carroll Twp..
Born Sunday, June 22, 1919 in Donora, PA she was the daughter of the Late Joseph and Mary (Boskorich) Opett.
She was a member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church in Donora, The Lutheran Church Women and the Slovak Beneficial Union.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Andrew Balas; a sister, Agnes Dolnack; and two brothers, Joseph and Albert Opett.
She was the loving mother of John A. Balas of W. Mifflin and Nancy Ann Morine of Camp Hill, PA; cherished grandmother of, Dr. Susan Morine and her husband Brent Plummer of Pgh., Dr. Karen Morine of Pgh., and Dr. Kevin Morine and his wife Jessica of Boston, MA; great grandmother of Caelen Plummer, Aidan Plummer, Maya Plummer and Julian Morine; sister of Mary Franks of McKeesport and Anna Willwohl of Aspinwall also aunt of Patricia White, Don Franks and Edward Opett.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 www.massafrafuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday July 21, 2014, with Pastor Matthew Stabe officiating.
Interment will be in Monongahela Cemetery, Monongahela, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels, SPHS Aging Services, 301 Chamber Plaza, Charleroi, PA 15022-1607.
