Mary C. Strain, age 84, of Donora, PA, passed Friday, June 24, 2016, at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Carroll Twp., PA.

She was born December 15, 1931 in Donora the daughter of the late George and Maria (Galenec) Charinko.

She was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Church. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Store in Monessen and the Local Food Bank.

Mary was a medical assistant for 40 years working with Dr. Dimitri Petro the majority of that time.

She is survived by her son James Scott (Joann) Strain of Castle Shannon; a daughter Leslie Strain of St. Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren, Jessica Cordova, Eugene Cordova and Scott David (Christina) Strain; a great grandchild, Jean Manuel; and a sister Irene Yonish of Nebraska.

Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday June 26, 2016. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Monday June 27 at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Valley Church with Rev. Fr. Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant.

Entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA
